Reflection Questions for
Module 1: Grounding

Engage these lived practices as you learn to show up more fully as who you came here to be, and to act with clarity, responsibility, and coherence in everyday life.

Practicing with curiosity

As you go about your day, or in your qigong or visualizations, practice greeting your experience with compassion and curiosity. For example, say: “isn’t it interesting that when I practice qigong I don’t feel anything” or “isn’t it interesting that I feel [impatience/sadness/sleepiness/fulfillment] when I try to ground” or “isn’t it interesting that when I’m around other people I completely forget about noticing my grounding.” Just notice what arises in each moment without judgment, and try not to get caught in stories like “I’m not good at this” or “I hate this” or “this isn’t working.” The practice is to stay in relationship with your experience as it unfolds.

Sleep hygiene

Grounding is yin energy. Protect your yin and try courting it like a lover. Support sleep with consistent rest rhythms, reduced stimulation at night, and nourishing practices that help you settle and feel good before bed—maybe some herbal tea, a bath or shower, and the qigong grounding forms. Try leaving your technology outside of your bedroom and spend the hour before bed in your bedroom without it. The body needs darkness, stillness, and nourishment in order to replenish.

Qigong

Make time for qigong regularly so you can move energy, resource yourself, and return to your body. This is part of the foundation of this work and helps prepare the way for the visualization. Our energy (qigong) follows our thoughts (visualization) into form (our grounding cord).

Grounding cord visualization

Practice cultivating your grounding cord through the visualization taught in the module. Let this become the place you return to when you want to come back into your body, your presence, and your relationship with the Earth.

Grounding cord maintenance

Practice maintaining your grounding cord through the cord-cutting visualization. This is part of claiming your sovereignty and your energy, and keeping your grounding and your yin energy clean, clear, and your own.

Seeking answers from your practice

Bring your questions into your practice and see what answers arise through just doing it. If nothing comes, that’s fine. You can bring your questions back to our next session. But often the practice itself opens an answer that is unique and specific to you. Trust your felt sense.
